First performance of RNYSO with Philipp Selivanov

On February 6, for the first time Philipp Selivanov, a gold medalist and laureate of the 1st prize at the International Rachmaninov Competition, will take the RNYSO console for the first time. The orchestra's permanent partner, pianist Denis Matsuev, will perform as a soloist. The program includes music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky — Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra and his Fourth Symphony, which will be performed for the first time by the RNYSO.

In 2017—2019, Philipp Selivanov has been a conductor at the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg. Since 2020 he is a conductor of the Moscow Musical Theater "Helikon Opera". In 2022 he made his debut at the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, conducting Weinberg’s opera The Idiot. Within the framework of the 8th International Tchaikovsky Festival of Arts, Philip Selivanov, together with the soloists, choir and orchestra of the Helikon Opera, presented the program “Planet Tchaikovsky: Bread, Love and Death” staged by Sergei Novikov, which included arias from operas Cherevichki, Mazepa, Oprichnik, as well as Italian capriccio and cantata Moscow. Collaborates with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra (in 2019–2021, a trainee of the orchestra).
