RNYSO opens Another space
On November 17, the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valentin Uryupin will make its debut at the VII International Festival "Another Space". For the first time, the honor of opening the largest contemporary music forum in Russia has been entrusted to such a young team.
The program is dedicated to three generations of composers: the classics of the 20th century are represented by Bernd Alois Zimmermann, the classics of our century - by John Adams, contemporary masters - by Jörg Widmann and Johannes Maria Staud. The concert will feature pianists Lukas Geniushas and Anna Geniushene, who will play solo parts in the Russian premiere of Staud's play "In the Light", as well as the outstanding theater and film actor Alexander Filippenko - he will take part in a performance of Zimmermann's composition "Music for the Feast of King I Will" for the orchestra and a small jazz ensemble and read excerpts from the famous play by Alfred Jarry.
The "Other Space" festival has been held by the Moscow Philharmonic since 2009. It acquaints listeners with the masterpieces of the twentieth century and with the music of our days, focusing on the general public - regular visitors to philharmonic concerts. The festival is headed by conductor Vladimir Jurowski, who became its artistic director in 2014.
